Why see a show off the Las Vegas Strip?

Three things, and none of them is that the shows are smaller. Seats: a room seating a few hundred has no bad rows, so a modest ticket buys a view a Strip theatre would charge several times over for. Parking: off-Strip venues are free to park at, and you are not walking twenty minutes through a casino to reach your seat. Time: no resort-corridor traffic, no queue for the theatre doors, no forty-minute exit afterwards.

Where exactly are these rooms?

Almost everything on this page plays at the Modern Showrooms at Alexis Park on East Harmon Avenue — a five to ten minute ride from the centre Strip — across its Athena, Pegasus, Alexis Garden and poolside rooms. Wastin' Away is the outdoor one, played poolside rather than in a showroom. The exception is Silver Sevens on Paradise Road, home to Delirious Comedy Club and House of Magic.

What do you give up by going off-Strip?

Scale. These rooms do not do flying rigs, water tanks or forty-person casts, so if the spectacle itself is what you came to Las Vegas for, the Strip has it and we do not. What you get instead is proximity: the performers are close enough to work the room, the sound is mixed for the space, and nobody is watching the show on a screen.

How do you get to an off-Strip show?

Rideshare is simplest and usually runs a few dollars from the Strip. If you are driving, parking is free and steps from the door. Doors typically open 45 minutes before showtime; each show page carries the exact address and time.
