Which Las Vegas music show should you see?

Pick by the artist you want to hear, because that is what you will be singing along to. Elvis is All Shook Up, the rock and roll show that has run over a decade. Motown splits two ways: All Motown is the evening revue with the horn section and the choreography, and Motown Brunch puts the same songbook into a Sunday daytime seating. Rat Pack and big-band swing is Sinatra Live!, headlined by Michael Sinatra. Neil Diamond is King of Diamonds — the sing-along of the group, where the room ends up doing most of the chorus.

Three more cover ground the others do not. Sir Elton is the Elton John show and the only one built on a real piano rather than a band arrangement. Queen Selena is Latin pop, fronted by Yailen Hernandez with a live band behind her. Wastin' Away is the Jimmy Buffett tribute, and the only show here played outdoors at the pool rather than in a showroom. If you want the songbook stripped back instead, Legends Unplugged is one performer and one guitar working through the '80s.

What counts as a Las Vegas music show?

On the Strip it can mean a residency headliner in a 5,000-seat arena, a DJ, or a production number running to a recorded track. Here it means something narrower and, for most visitors, better value: a working band and a lead vocalist performing songs you already know, in a room seating a few hundred rather than a few thousand. The sound is mixed for a small space and you are never watching the show on a video screen.
