What is the difference between burlesque, cabaret and a revue?
The words get used interchangeably and should not be. Burlesque is built on tease, character and comic timing — the reveal is the punchline, not the point. Cabaret is the broader room: song, dance and patter at close range. A revue is a full-cast production that may use either. All three share the same virtue, which is that they are designed to be seen from a table rather than a balcony.
